Wow, I think I'm glad to have left H_E when I did. I'm not entirely sure what happened, and I think I'm glad I'm still unsure, but I've got enough crap going in IRL to worry about the Hufflepuffs going insane. So I finally got the courage to apply for hogwarts_elite. It looks like a lot of fun, and it'd be nice to have somewhere to discuss things fairly seriously. I've honestly been lurking around there for about two years and just never got around to applying. Wish me luck everyone!

So, the first round of ldws has started up, go vote! Siren and I are both in it, this time round, though there's only six people which is no fun. But oh well. Not saying which one's mine, but Rach I bet I can tell which one's yours :p

So, we have a title. I'm not that excited about what it actually is to tell the truth, it's a bit of a strange one. Though I remember "Half Blood Prince" got a bit of a bashing when it first came out, it'll probably grow on me.
What I'm excited about is that this means things are moving along and that it's now entirely possible that it'll come out next year. And that more news is probably imminent. Does anyone remember how long we had to wait before HBP was announced and when it was released?

...right. This book has been sitting on my computer table for a while because I abandoned it. It's told from an eight-year-old's POV and it's very annoying and rather boring. Or so I thought - turns out the abusive step-father must get more abusive as the story progresses.

So, seeing as the massively massive HP rec list being made up is rejecting gen fics, chthonya has made up a gen rec list here. The rules are clearer than they were for the masterlist, so go take a look see if you're interested.

OK, so I just watched Gattaca again for the first time in a while, and I'd forgotten how much I loved the movie. It's such a beautiful, quite little film but it's one of the few that can (almost) move me to tears. I love my big blockbusters and the massive sci-fi/fantasy movies, but there is something to be said about completely character driven films with no special effects and just a plain old good story. If you haven't seen it, go rent it out - even if you don't like sci-fi there's no real science in it, it's just basically set in the future.

And while I'm on the subject of movies, how in the world is it possible that Pirates 2 is rating worse than X-Men 3 over on Rotten Tomatoes? I get the fact that X-Men has a 100 more reviews and that that won't be the final score for Pirates because there are probably more reviews to come, but it doesn't make sense to me. I loved them both dearly but even I can admit The Last Stand was a pretty bad movie, and I probably only appreciated it because I'm a diehard fan. Is it just because people were expecting more out of Pirates and were disappointed? I don't know, it's strange.
